In this course, students will learn about the foundational elements of geography, such as latitude and longitude, different types of maps, time zones, and the importance of physical land characteristics, such as rivers. We will follow the immigration and migration paths of people groups throughout history. This class will include a lot of virtual traveling using the incredible technology available to online learners now, such as google earth, 360 degree google street tours and 3D mapping technology such as that found at CyArk. We will view art and artifacts from around the world and even get to see and hear international musical performances. Students will gain global perspectives and learn about the geography and history of the world in a way that helps them to link past events to challenges facing us today.
