Students will be given a reading assignment each week as well as some written homework. We will discuss what we have read in class each week, with particular attention to developing critical thinking skills and recognizing cross-curricular connections and new vocabulary. We will cover five books this school year. A list follows, with clickable links to purchase the correct edition on Amazon.

A Book Report Project
You may choose from this list, or come up with your own idea, pending teacher approval.

- Write a two page biography of the author, add photos, and share it with the class.
- Create a stop motion video depicting a scene from the book.
- Draw two self portraits, side by side, of yourself dressed completely differently, such as as a prince(ss) and as a pauper.
- Create a trivia game with facts from the book, and play it with your classmates
- Create a word game from the vocabulary lists from this semester to play with your classmates.
- Create a diorama of a scene from the book.
- Cook a recipe that relates to the book and share the typed recipe and the dish with the class. (Please note there are vegetarians among us!) There are no allergies in the class to date.
- Make a trivia game based on the life of Mark Twain to share/ play with the class.
- Create a powerpoint timeline of the book, and present it
- Write a paper or poem telling about a life lesson you learned from reading this book
- Do a project to help someone who has less than you (i.e., someone who is homeless, hungry, in hospital, etc.)
- Create a video or skit depicting a scene from the book.
