Students will be given a reading assignment each week as well as some written homework.  We will discuss what we have read in class each week, with particular attention to developing critical thinking skills and recognizing cross-curricular connections and new vocabulary. We will cover four books this school year.  A list follows, with clickable links to purchase the correct edition on Amazon.
  • My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George
  • Shiloh by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor
  • The Gift of the Magi and Other Stories by O. Henry
  • Wonder by R. J. Palacio
  • Charlotte's Web by E. B. White
